Terms And Conditions
Cleaner Kennington Terms and Conditions of Service
These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Cleaner Kennington provides cleaning services to residential and commercial clients. By booking or using any of our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before placing a booking.
1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions, the following expressions have the meanings set out below.
Client means the individual, company or organisation that books or receives cleaning services from Cleaner Kennington.
Cleaner means any employee, worker, subcontractor or representative engaged by Cleaner Kennington to provide the services.
Services means any cleaning or associated services supplied by Cleaner Kennington to the Client, whether one off or recurring.
Premises means the property or properties where the Services are to be provided, as specified in the booking confirmation.
Agreement means the contract between the Client and Cleaner Kennington incorporating these Terms and Conditions and any written booking confirmation.
2. Scope of Services
Cleaner Kennington provides domestic and commercial cleaning services, which may include regular cleaning, end of tenancy cleaning, deep cleaning, office cleaning, and other related services as agreed with the Client.
The exact scope of the Services, including any specific tasks, areas to be cleaned, frequency, and duration, will be confirmed in writing at the time of booking or in subsequent written correspondence. Only tasks that are expressly agreed as part of the booking form part of the Services.
Cleaner Kennington reserves the right to decline work that is unsafe, unlawful, requires specialist equipment not previously agreed, or falls outside the nature of cleaning services, such as construction, electrical work, plumbing, or pest control.
3. Booking Process
3.1 Enquiries
Clients may request a quotation or make a booking enquiry by completing an online form or by contacting Cleaner Kennington through any published communication channels excluding email addresses and telephone numbers, which are not listed here. Quotations are based on the information provided by the Client and may be subject to change after inspection of the Premises.
3.2 Booking Confirmation
A booking is not confirmed until Cleaner Kennington issues a written confirmation specifying the date, time, type of service, estimated duration and applicable charges. By accepting a quote or confirmation, the Client confirms that they have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions.
3.3 Access to Premises
The Client must ensure that the Cleaner has safe and uninterrupted access to the Premises at the agreed time. This includes providing necessary keys, access codes, entry instructions, parking information and any required authorisations, such as reception or building management clearance.
Where keys are provided, the Client confirms that they have authority to grant access and that any alarm systems or security measures are clearly explained. Cleaner Kennington will take reasonable care of keys but accepts no liability for pre-existing issues with locks, alarm systems or access devices.
3.4 Scheduling and Duration
All booking times are approximate. While Cleaner Kennington aims to attend at the agreed time, minor variations may occur due to traffic, weather, or previous jobs overrunning. Where there is a significant delay, Cleaner Kennington will use reasonable efforts to notify the Client and arrange an alternative time if required.
The duration of the Services is an estimate and may vary depending on the condition of the Premises. If the required work cannot reasonably be completed within the estimated time, Cleaner Kennington may either limit the scope of work to fit the booked time or propose additional time at the applicable rates, subject to Client approval.
4. Client Obligations
The Client agrees to
Provide accurate information regarding the Premises and required Services.
Ensure that the Premises are safe, with functioning lighting, water, electricity and reasonable heating where necessary.
Inform Cleaner Kennington of any hazards, delicate surfaces, items of special value, or areas that require particular care.
Secure or remove cash, jewellery, confidential documents, or items of high personal or monetary value prior to the appointment.
Supervise children, pets and third parties while the Services are being provided and ensure they do not interfere with the work or the safety of the Cleaner.
Advise Cleaner Kennington of any building regulations, estate rules, parking restrictions or other requirements that may affect the provision of the Services.
5. Pricing and Payments
5.1 Rates and Estimates
Prices for Services are based on the type of cleaning, size and condition of the Premises, frequency of visits, and any additional tasks requested. Cleaner Kennington may provide an estimated price prior to the visit, which may be adjusted if the conditions differ from those described by the Client.
All prices are quoted in pounds sterling and may be inclusive or exclusive of applicable taxes, as clearly stated in the quotation or booking confirmation.
5.2 Payment Terms
Unless otherwise stated in writing, payment for one off Services is due on or before the day of the service. For ongoing or contract Services, the Client will be invoiced according to the agreed schedule, with payment due by the specified due date.
Cleaner Kennington accepts payment by commonly used cashless methods or other methods agreed in writing. The Client is responsible for ensuring that payment is made on time and in full. Failure to pay may result in suspension or cancellation of future Services.
5.3 Late Payments
Where payment is not received by the due date, Cleaner Kennington reserves the right to charge reasonable late payment fees and interest in line with applicable law, and to recover any costs incurred in collecting overdue amounts.
5.4 Price Changes
Cleaner Kennington may revise prices from time to time to reflect changes in operating costs or market conditions. For ongoing Clients, any change in pricing will be communicated in advance, and continued use of the Services after the effective date will constitute acceptance of the new rates.
6. Cancellations, Rescheduling and No Show Policy
6.1 Client Cancellations and Rescheduling
The Client may cancel or reschedule a booking by giving reasonable notice. Except where otherwise agreed, at least 24 hours notice before the scheduled start time is required to avoid cancellation charges.
If the Client cancels or reschedules with less than the required notice, Cleaner Kennington reserves the right to charge a late cancellation fee, up to the full amount of the scheduled service.
6.2 Cleaner Kennington Cancellations
In rare circumstances, Cleaner Kennington may need to cancel or reschedule a booking due to staff illness, access issues, severe weather, or other events beyond its reasonable control. Where this occurs, Cleaner Kennington will notify the Client as soon as reasonably practicable and offer an alternative appointment. Cleaner Kennington will not be liable for any indirect loss or inconvenience arising from such cancellations.
6.3 No Access
If the Cleaner is unable to gain access to the Premises at the scheduled time, or is turned away, and reasonable efforts have been made to contact the Client, Cleaner Kennington may treat the visit as cancelled and apply the full service charge.
7. Quality of Service and Complaints
Cleaner Kennington aims to provide a professional and reliable service. If the Client is dissatisfied with any aspect of the Services, they must report the issue as soon as possible and no later than 24 hours after completion of the relevant visit.
Cleaner Kennington will review the complaint, may request supporting information, and will offer an appropriate remedy where the complaint is justified. This may include re cleaning the affected area at no additional cost or making a partial refund, at the sole discretion of Cleaner Kennington.
Complaints received more than 24 hours after the service may not be eligible for remedy, as conditions at the Premises may have changed.
8. Health, Safety and Conduct
Cleaner Kennington is committed to maintaining high standards of health and safety. Cleaners are instructed to use cleaning products and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
The Client agrees not to request any tasks that are unsafe or fall outside reasonable cleaning activities, such as climbing on unstable surfaces, lifting excessively heavy items, or using equipment that the Cleaner has not been trained to operate.
Cleaners must be treated with respect and must not be subject to harassment, discrimination, threatening behaviour or inappropriate conduct. Cleaner Kennington reserves the right to withdraw the Cleaner and terminate the Agreement with immediate effect if the safety or dignity of the Cleaner is compromised.
9. Liability and Insurance
9.1 General Liability
Cleaner Kennington will exercise reasonable skill and care in providing the Services. However, the Client acknowledges that normal wear and tear, pre existing damage, poor condition of surfaces or materials, and defects in construction may limit what can be achieved.
Cleaner Kennington will not be liable for minor cosmetic damage or deterioration resulting from normal cleaning processes on surfaces or items that are already worn, stained, fragile, or otherwise at risk. The Client is responsible for highlighting any particularly delicate or high value items before work begins.
9.2 Limits of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cleaner Kennington shall not be liable for loss of profits, loss of business, loss of opportunity, or any indirect or consequential loss arising out of or in connection with the Services or these Terms and Conditions.
Cleaner Kennington's total aggregate liability for any and all claims arising from a single incident or series of related incidents, whether in contract, tort, negligence or otherwise, shall not exceed the total amount paid by the Client for the specific service visit in question.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits or excludes any liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
9.3 Insurance
Cleaner Kennington maintains insurance appropriate to its business. Details of cover may be provided upon reasonable request. Any claim for loss or damage must be reported as soon as reasonably practicable and supported by evidence. Cleaner Kennington reserves the right to inspect the alleged damage before any settlement is agreed.
10. Client Property and Security
While every effort is made to safeguard property, Cleaner Kennington cannot accept liability for loss of cash, jewellery, or other items of high value that have not been properly secured or disclosed. Clients are strongly advised to store valuables out of sight and under lock and key during visits.
The Client confirms that any keys or access devices provided to Cleaner Kennington are given lawfully and that any alarm codes or security instructions are clear and correct. Cleaner Kennington will not be responsible for alarm activation or related charges where the Client has given incorrect codes or where alarm systems are faulty.
11. Supplies, Equipment and Damage to Surfaces
Unless otherwise agreed, Cleaner Kennington will supply cleaning products and standard equipment. If the Client requests the use of their own products or equipment, they do so at their own risk and must ensure that such items are safe and suitable for use.
Cleaner Kennington will not be held responsible for damage arising from the use of products or equipment supplied or specified by the Client, including specialist floor treatments, polishes, or chemicals.
The Client must inform Cleaner Kennington of any surfaces requiring special treatment, such as natural stone, untreated wood, or specialist finishes. In the absence of such information, standard cleaning procedures will be followed, and Cleaner Kennington will not be liable for any resulting damage where reasonable care has been taken.
12. Waste Handling and Environmental Regulations
Cleaner Kennington will dispose of routine domestic and office waste generated in the course of cleaning in accordance with local waste collection rules at the Premises, using appropriate bins and separation procedures where provided.
The Services do not include the removal or transport of large quantities of waste, construction debris, hazardous materials, clinical waste, sharps, or chemical substances. The Client is responsible for arranging appropriate disposal of such materials through licensed waste carriers or specialist services.
Cleaner Kennington reserves the right to refuse to handle or dispose of any material that may present a health, safety or environmental risk or that falls outside normal household or office waste. Where waste regulations apply, the Client agrees to comply with all relevant legislation and to indemnify Cleaner Kennington against any claims or penalties arising from the Client's failure to do so.
13. Force Majeure
Cleaner Kennington shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform its obligations under these Terms and Conditions where such delay or failure is caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to extreme weather, public transport disruption, strikes, accidents, pandemics, acts of government or public authorities, or failures of utilities.
Where a force majeure event occurs, Cleaner Kennington will use reasonable efforts to notify the Client and to resume normal service as soon as practicable. Either party may terminate or reschedule affected bookings without penalty where performance is made impossible or impractical by such events.
14. Termination of Services
Either party may terminate ongoing Services by giving reasonable written notice, subject to any minimum commitment period agreed in writing. One off bookings will terminate automatically on completion of the Services and payment of all sums due.
Cleaner Kennington may terminate the Agreement with immediate effect where the Client materially breaches these Terms and Conditions, fails to make payment when due, endangers the safety of Cleaners, or engages in abusive or unlawful behaviour.
15. Privacy and Confidentiality
Cleaner Kennington will handle any personal information provided by the Client in accordance with applicable data protection laws and its internal privacy practices. Personal data will only be used for the purposes of managing bookings, providing Services, handling payments and communications, and meeting legal obligations.
Cleaners are instructed to treat information encountered at the Premises as confidential and not to disclose it to third parties, except where required by law or where it is necessary for the performance of the Services.
16. Amendments to These Terms
Cleaner Kennington may update or amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The latest version will apply to all new bookings and to ongoing Services after the date of communication or publication. Where reasonable, Clients will be informed of significant changes. Continued use of the Services after such changes will constitute acceptance of the updated terms.
17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales.
The parties agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising from or relating to these Terms and Conditions or the provision of the Services.
18. General Provisions
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found by a court or competent authority to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that provision shall be treated as deleted to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
No failure or delay by Cleaner Kennington in exercising any right or remedy under these Terms and Conditions shall constitute a waiver of that or any other right or remedy.
These Terms and Conditions, together with any written booking confirmation, constitute the entire agreement between the Client and Cleaner Kennington in relation to the Services and supersede any prior representations, discussions or agreements, whether written or oral.
